The story began with the creation of a Czech registry of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which in 2014 became part of the international EMPIRE research project. Over the following eight years, nearly 50 centers from 11 countries gradually joined the project. Building on this successful collaboration, the EMPIRE-ILD project was launched in 2026 with the aim of extending the collection of real-life data to other diagnoses, taking advantage of the unique community and linkages established in previous years.
